Knit vests

Produksee manufactures knit vests and sleeveless knitwear in Indonesia — V-neck, crew and button-front styles in fine to mid gauge. Armhole and neckline finishing is linked rather than overlocked, keeping edges flat for layering, for export and domestic fashion brands.

The problem

A vest is mostly edge. Take the sleeves off a knitted garment and the armhole, the neckline and the front band become almost the whole thing — which is why a vest exposes bad finishing faster than any other knit in a range.

Construction

What we control on a vest

Armhole finish

Linked rib, set at a tension that holds the armhole open without gripping. An overlocked armhole rolls, and it rolls visibly under a jacket.

V-neck point

The point where the two sides of a V meet is the single most-inspected stitch in the garment. It is mitred, not folded.

Layering thickness

A vest is worn under or over something. We keep seam bulk down at the shoulder so it sits flat inside a jacket.

Trim weight

The metal buttons on samples like these pull a lightweight front out of line. Band tension is set against the actual button weight.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Are vests cheaper than a sweater to produce?

Less yarn, but not proportionally cheaper — the finishing time per garment barely drops, because the armhole and neckline work replaces the sleeve work.

Can you produce vests and matching cardigans as a set?

Yes, and it is worth doing in one run. Matching two knits across separate production runs means matching two different dye lots.

Do you offer sleeveless styles in heavier gauges?

Yes. Confirm the gauge range with us for your specific style — the figures on this page are being finalised.
