Cut & sew knitwear

Produksee produces cut & sew knitwear in Indonesia, cutting panels from knitted yardage and assembling them into finished garments. Faster and lower cost per piece than fully fashioned construction, suited to volume programmes, simple silhouettes and sharper price points.

Cut & sew is knitwear made the way woven garments are made: knit the fabric, cut the pattern, sew it together. It is the right answer far more often than knitwear purists admit — but only when the fabric has been developed with cutting in mind.

Control

What decides whether cut & sew works

Fabric stability

A knitted fabric that curls at the edge will fight every operation downstream. Stability is a fabric development decision, made before any cutting.

Relaxation before cutting

Yardage is relaxed before the marker is laid. Cut it straight off the machine and every panel shrinks after assembly.

Seam elasticity

The seam has to stretch as much as the fabric or it will burst. Stitch type and thread are specified per fabric, not per factory habit.

Marker efficiency

Cutting waste is real yarn. Marker layout is where a cut & sew programme's cost is actually decided.

These figures are being confirmed with our production floor and will be published once verified.

We quote gauge, minimum order per style and per colour, yarn options, sampling turnaround and production lead time against your specific style — not from a rate card. Send a tech pack and you get all six back, costed, on WhatsApp.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is cut & sew lower quality?

No — it is a different construction, not a worse one. It is lower quality only when a fabric developed for fully fashioned work is cut anyway.

Which of my styles should be cut & sew?

Usually the simple, high-volume ones. Send the range and we will tell you which styles change construction and why.

Can you produce the fabric as well as the garment?

Yes. Knitting the yardage in-house is what lets us relax and stabilise it correctly before cutting.
